Just Inherited a Sony Vaio VGNTZ170N, originally came with Vista, I clean Installed W7 64bit.
Device manager is clean after I installed the richo card reader driver but the buttons on the front that control the optical drive do not work, any driver available for the buttons?.
Sony Support has pulled all drivers for this model.
Also looking for a bios update that will allow more than a 2gb memory module, it only has one slot.
Thanks for all that help with this.

I'm not sure about the bios, but I'm finding the win7 drivers here:
https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/mode...te_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab
Vaio's are known to have button/function issues unless the supporting drivers are installed in the correct order.
I would try installing these drivers in this order:
Setting Utility Series
VAIO Launcher Software
VAIO Original Function Settings Software
Sony Shared Library
UPDATE Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver
you may also want to install the control center. It gives you some battery saver/charging options in the windows control panel.
VAIO Control Center Software
also I'm kind of guessing about the Launcher and Function settings driver, because the normal install order is "utilities, utilities update, shared library, firmware extension" - at least in my experience. -
I did install all those, but not sure of the order, will try again following your order.'
Thanks. -
Do you know what the Sony PxEngine Driver is?

Googling it seems to point towards cd burning / optical device.
