My wife is buying a new computer any day now. I realise this should be (also) in the "What laptop should I buy"-section but I have further questions regarding this particular model.
She has ca $1200 (10,000 SEK) to spend. She prioritises a ~15 inch screen, a good display with good viewing angles, acceptable weight (for the size), good looks, and not having to upgrade for a few years at least. She will use it for regular work (MS Office), some light graphics (Photoshop/Illustrator), and some GIS-program work (ArcGIS).
With that in mind, we (I) have been looking at the Sony Vaio VPC-SE which looks to be right. Can anyone with insight confirm that this is a good choice. In Sweden where we are looking there is no choice of an SSD in it. Will it be a problem to buy a SSD right away and tuck it in, or is there anything to be aware of?
All comments will be appreciated!

you can swap the HDD with an SSD very easily yourself. the display is also IPS, so it has very good viewing angles, but there is a slight color shift from red to orange. you can read more about it in the SE owners' forum.

Hi I own one of this laptop. I have installed a 256gb Crucial M9 SSD and fits in perfectly. All you need is just a philip screw driver, turn the laptop upside down and unscrew the hatch next to the optical drive. Just make sure you remove the internal battery before installation for safety purposes.
You will find the laptop suitable for your needs, or better depending on your CPU choice (i5 or 7). I uses a lot of photoshop and find no hiccups during the process. Upgrading to a SSD is a wise choice for this laptop otherwise the stock HDD which runs at 5400rpm will clog up the entire laptop performance.
Sony Vaio VPC-SE good, SSD?
