Hello,
I have a Vaio VPCF1 and I was trying to reinstall Windows 7 using the USB...it booted from the USB and then it stopped saying that the CD/DVD device driver is not found. The problem is that the BD=ROM can't read DVDs, it can only read CDs. I tried stupid things like trying to reinstall even windows XP using a cd but It stops to an internal error.
So now...I tried skiping the step of that CDDVD device driver by trying to repair the booting using system recovery| #windows found problems with your computer startup options# If I click repair and restart it #fails to save startup options#...
The laptop is dead...If I remove the USB and any CD/DVD it can't boot and says this:
Windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1.Insert your windows installation disc and restart your conputer
2. Choose your language settings, and then click next
3. Click repair your computer
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0x000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
Please help me with this....Is there any way I can find a #recovery disc# from somewhere in order to follow the steps you suggested in the article?
What can I do to revive the laptop?
Thank you very much

Try installing windows from a windows 7 disk. Burn the windows 7 image iso file, via a program like ultra_iso setting the option as bootable cd rom then run setup from this CD. Why not use Vaio recovery or did you delete your recovery partition? Press the assist button repeatedly or (hold it down) as soon as you turn it on to see if the vaio recovery console starts.
