Hi, i have had my vaio overheating and shutting down for about the last 3 months, i took it to a computer store and they cleaned out the fan and re applied thermal paste and said thats all they can do, but it still reaches like 80 degrees celcius when idle before it was hitting 90+. I am using core temp to monitor the temperatures and idle even on power saver mode is above 75 degrees celcius now without my logitech cooler.
I applied the update for my laptops bios that sony released a while ago that was meant to fix the overheating issues but don't think it really did anything for mine.
Any one have any ideas? I have already bought a logitech laptop cooler, but even running it flat out it only lowers my idle temps to about 67 degrees and any load at all even just watching tv shows or a movie can see my temps get up to 85 degrees and the computer starts to "stutter" like its buffering the movie. My load temps if running in balanced or high performance mode quickly reach 100 and then it gets really slow and will turn itself off. I have to run on power saver just to get anything done. Don't know why i paid $1700 for an i7 if its only going to overheat and run at 900mhz max.
I have had this laptop for 2 years so far and i have to say its a horrible first experience for me from Sony. My old Asus laptop lasted me 4 years and was still working no problems before i upgraded just because i wanted a faster laptop. Dont think ill ever be buying Sony again![]()
