    Hello,

I am kind of confused. I was in the process of trying to update my driver, but I am having trouble, when I used the WHQL NVIDIA 306.97 I get an error saying not compatible. I understand this may because of the hybrid system, but what is the solution. What have other VPCZ1 owners done? What should I do?

I even tried uninstalling and using Driver Fusion to remove files and trying to install, but no luck.

Please help, this is not urgent, but would be really cool if I can solve this problem.

If you want the latest nvidia driver the only way is hacking the BIOS. You can find more information in this topic.

Here is explained how to install the drivers, and in case you want to keep the hybrid ones take a look here.

OK thanks for the help...A quick question? The first year I got the notebook in 2010; I never unplugged the notebook, most of the time I'd forget and go to class and it would be plugged in all day and then at night I would do the same thing. So, I think I messed up my battery. Either way now that my battery life is horrid, I never switch the graphics and usually it is always on SPEED, so if one was in a situation similar to mine wouldn't it be fine to just go for the NVIDIA driver seeing as I don't used the hybrid switching system much anymore??

I'm using the latest intel and nvidia drivers, you just have to hack the inf file for the nvidia installer to recognize your nvidia card. However, you'll lose the switchable function but it'll run on optimus which hopefully extends your battery life. If you want the inf file i can link you to it.

You should get horrible battery life in Speed mode.
Use it in STamina and you will see an improvement.

    Hello,
I can't get the 306 driver to load on my VPC-1390X (US model). Can you share the .inf file you're using? And which .inf file is it?

    Thanks!
