Dear All from Forum Notebook Review,
One more time I am doing the same changing as I did to my previous Vaio Z and TT,
but this time I am having some problem which I don’t understand…………
I have placed some photo in order to see what I am doing,
In the att. photos you can see the device manager and what happening using the full WWAN European drivers package ,Vaio Smart Network,One Click Internet and the Qualcomm Gobi2000 driver,
It show always the “Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Mobile Broadband Device 9225” with yellow warning.
I did also the test with the full WWAN US drivers package ,Vaio Smart Wii ,VZAccess and the Qualcomm Gobi2000 driver,
And It show always the “Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Ethernet Device 9225” with yellow warning.

    HELP!

The install order to have the WWAN function, at least with the US packages, is:
    1. GOBI Drivers
    2. VZAcess
    3. SmartWI
If you didn't do them in this order, try again.

If you have, it looks like you may have a bad WWAN card. You may need to speak with Sony.

    install the VZAccess,
    install the Smart wii,
    install the qualcomm,

than switch off and install the minicard,
    than switch on again,

Sorry if I missed this but did the Gobi card come with the laptop, or did you buy it separately? I think Igorstef (sp?) tried swapping with a card from a non-Sony machine and it didn't work.

Ok I wasn't sure why you installed the European drivers... and I'm assuming you're using the same card that came with your new Z, with the same new Z itself.

I see that "Location Services" is not switched on, did you try switching on everything related to the card, then allow Windows to search for drivers in the path-to-drivers you provided?

Edit: Why does your "Web-To-Go" program show T-mobile  Are you trying to force the card into GSM mode?

Ok I think I was confused (maybe I still am). I was looking at the 'Location Services' in your last email and it looks like it's off...

Anyway, did you try Zoink's installation steps with the WWAN card installed?

    No, do you suggest it?

I can try it..............till now I did any kind of experiments !
also now I am thinking about my last upgrading and I remember that always I used to remove the IFX in order to weld the sim slot.................and this time I didn't it ,
I did everything without disconnect the IFX from the mother board,

maybe this is the problem!!!

    I'll let you know

I don't know why you have to do all that (I don't know what IFX stands for) to get what's usually supposed to work, to work... I think you're making it much, much more complicated than it is...

Did you try reinstalling the drivers, using the card the laptop came with?

I think it may help for someone who has the same (working) card to post his / her drivers for that component. That can give a clue...

What happens if you create a dialup connection using the modem device? you should be able to find the dial up settings (ie #777, etc) online.

So you bought the Z with the Gobi 2000 card and then soldered the sim card slot on to the daughterboard?

Was it working properly before you soldered the sim card holder?

I had a look at the Z11 WWAN drivers and they are different from the Gobi 1000 drivers in that there is not a separate image and driver pack. Sony probably combined these into one driver pack.

If you have the recovery discs may be reinstall and see if that works. If that doesn't then i would suggest you contact Sony.

I don't know how experienced you are in using Linux - but you are usually getting a lot more of useful debug information about (non-working) hardware in Linux.

Just grab a live CD and see what happens - the QC card should be supported.

They did a clean install with the recovery discs, well that is what they told me anyway.
