Hi,
I have noticed that if you want to use an external mic (jack pluing), you need to restart the computer and the mic must need to be connected. Only this way, the external mic is recognized. If you trie to use with no restart process, the internal mic is used. So, did anyone notice it as well? Does anyone know how to solve it with no restart process? Please, let me know if you have a solution.
BTW, if the mic is an USB connector, it works normally.
tks.

Open Control Panel > Sound, click the Recording Devices tab. You should see a list of microphones. The internal mic is labelled "Realtek High Definition Audio". One of the entries will be set as the default device. Find your external mic and make it the default.
You can also access this from the Speaker icon in the task tray. Right-click and select Recording Devices. -
Hi gerg,
thank you for the info, but I am afraid to say that there is no other device installed when I use plugin jack mic, as far as I know, it is the same Realtek High Definition Audio. If there is other option to be able the device, please, let me know.
As I said, if I restart the computer plugged the mic, it works, but if the computer is already turned on, and I try to connect just plugining the mic, it doesnt work.
anyway, tks, any other hints.

That is strange. I just plugged an external mic in and don't see any difference. I do have two entries for Realtek microphones, the other being the noise cancelling headphone device.
Have you tried removing and reinstalling the Realtek drivers. -
Hi gerg,
whenever I plugin external mic (3,5mm jack), I have only one entry in the device record, doesnt matter if I connect and disconnect it several times. It is really weird. I didnt try to reinstall the driver, but when I restart the computer and the external mic works, there is only one entry, so I dont think that the reinstall will work. I have the noise cancelling as well, but it is always disconnected, I never seen it connected.

How are you testing the external mic? Check the microphone level to see if it isn't somehow getting turned all the way down.
You can also run the Sound troubleshooter in Vaio Care.
Next step would be to reinstall the audio drivers.
The noice-cancelling mic is only enabled when the Sony noise-cancelling headphones are plugged into the headphone jack. Not sure if your laptop came with those or not. They look like regular earbuds. -
Hi gerg,
I am testing using skype, msn and other software that need to use mic. When I plug the mic, people that are listen me saying that there are listen the enviroment where I am. however, if I restart the mic connected, the sound is clear and only the mic. this is what happen. as the computer has a webcam builtin, it seems that the mic used coming from the webcam. I will resintall the driver, but I think that it is not the problem, since I dont have more than one entries in the device records.
tks. -
I should have also asked, have you tried more than one external mic?
-
Hi gerg,
Yes, more than one, as I said, it worked only if I use an USB mic. in this case, I have more than one entries as well.
tks.
