Then when I install new windows I delete the OEM partion.

But when I boot to recovery mode by Assist button it not going to recovery mode but it boot to the windows.

I can't restore to factorey default any more.
And body can help me to find the recovery disk please?

If you did not make a set of recovery discs before doing what you've mentioned, then unfortunately, you'll have to contact Sony to buy a set of recovery discs from them. :(

    Good luck. :)

You should be able to find the DVDs for Win7 online, then use the serial number from your Z to activate it. The drivers specific to the Z can be found on Sony's support site.

Edit: Oops, didn't realize you are already using the Win Ultimate disks. Anyway, downloading the drivers from Sony should bring it pretty much to the same state.

If anyone has hosting space, I am willing to upload the images of the recovery discs for the VPCZ1388GG.

Don't know what Sony charges, but I've never seen a mfr charge more than $20, and I think they are the safest bet.

So F10 at bootup doesn't work? I messed up my factory installation reset once on a sony and was hitting my head on the wall with messed up applications until I tried that by chance and voila, I am good now. I think the data remains there unless you do a secure clean using a program.

The OP wiped the recovery partition that's why he/she's asking for a copy of it. But otherwise, on the Vaio Z, pushing the "ASSIST" key will do the same thing: cause the Z to boot into recovery/diagnostic mode.

I did a clean install from a windows 7 boot cd as well but it didn't completely delete it. I don't think Windows does a secure delete so the files have been marked for deletion but don't get deleted right away: this is how the police find stuff on your computer

Is it only the CTO models in the US which come with the "Fresh install"? I remember hating that my old SZ came with all the preinstalled crap from Sony.

If you install with the recovery disks can't you choose not to install all the extra applications? Talk about moving backwards if that's the case... :p

I didn't see any option of installing without extra applications when recovering form the recovery discs.

What a shame. Don't they understand that a lot of consumers would love that option. I take it, it shouldn't be any problem doing a clean install and loading the drivers in separetely. Still feels like this should be possible with the recovery disks.

Doesn't Sony have a lot of customizable drivers without which even you keyboard shortcuts might not work properly?
