My VPCZ13M9E/B already had the fan replaced under warranty in October 2012. Today after cold starting the computer in the morning the fan made a very loud noise which disappeared after some minutes of use the fan sound went back to normal.
Vaio VPCZ13M9E/B very high fan noise, almost out of warranty
My guess is if that would be enough to clean it and put some bearing oil on the fan, like some people said on youtube comments, or either buy a new part for the notebook. The thing is, I've got no idea what the part number is, how can I find it? Maybe this (with its description):
New For Sony Vaio VPC-Z11 VPC-Z12 VPC-Z13 CPU Fan With Heatsink MCF-528PAM05

ComputerCowboy has a service manual on his website. That should have the part. If you can't get it there, give me a message and I'll upload it for you somewhere.
AFAIK it is 1-787-943-11

Cleaning is highly recommended. I have done it several times. Just be careful of the thermal pad on the GPU - this is thicker than expected, so if you trash that, you'll need a copper shim to make up the gap.Paloseco likes this. -
You can also get just the fan - not the entire heatsink assembly. Search for MCF-528PAM05

Sorry - double post.

Ok found the fan only at this british store, looks genuine and top quality:

About the service manual for the VPCZ1 on ComputerCowboy's site, couldn't find it. I've navigated through the website but there are not sections to navigate, you need to know the url beforehand. If you have it, it would really help me.
There is another thing on the Z1 though, it looks like you have to remove the motherboard to reach the fan, because it's on the bottom side of the computer, while you access to the motherboard from the upper side after you remove the keyboard panel. On this Sony, which is a different model, is much easier:

Ok found two disassembly guides here, they are not specific for the Z13 but may help:

The best part, a youtube video showing a VPCZ1 teardown:

How did you get on?
I have a VPCZ12Z9E ovearheating and making a racket.
Really wish they had made the one component most likely to need repair or maintanence easier to access. -
