Skypimp,
i bought the same model and had the same kind of problem. On my laptop I can hear a noise when I scroll the content of a window or move a window around.
I have too some click noise coming from the hard drive every 10 to 15 seconds when apparently the drive is not reading/writing anything (the hard drive light doesn't light up when this click noise occurs). I have no idea if it's not normal. I just know that my wife's laptop (a Toshiba with the same kind of characteristics) doesn't make that noise. Do you have this problem too?
Some other people have the same kind of problem, and not only on Sony laptops (make a search in the Sony thread for the words noise and scroll). I tried many things to suppress this noise (one that seemed to work at first for me was to set the CPU control to "adaptive" in the power settings in the control panel), but it always came back.
I ended up calling Sony's tech support. They couldn't give me a solution to this problem, so they agreed to check my laptop (probably because of the hard drive noise though), but they were not able to tell me how long it will take to repair it. Actually I don't know if they will be able to do anything about this noise (apparently it's a design default). I would advise you to call them too, so they know that there is a problem with this model. -
Hi Airman,
I tried your solution on my Sony VGN-C140G, and it didn't work
But it's nice to see people sharing their tips.
