does anyone have or can find additional info on Sony Vaio X-series? it's scheduled to launch really soon sometimes next month but there's not much info on it other than initial specs and showoff pics. what i'm specifically asking for is the the HD form factor (1.8" or 2.5"?) and how many free memory slots? since it comes standard with a 64gb SSD, my assumption is that it can only take 1.8" form factor since sony most likely would not put a full blown SSD into something like this for two reasons: 1) chassis is too thin to fit a standard 2.5" drive, and 2) will run on the intel atom platform and as far as i know, all atom platforms are limited to SATA1 interface, which the transfer rates are caped at around 120mb/s read. it would be a waste to put a nice SSD in there with this limitation of SATA1.

from the pics, this thing is sexy as hell being so thin, small, and light. the biggest turn-off is that it will be chugging along on an atom processor. seriously... the ULV's are out now and sony will still be putting atoms in this? what sort of makes up for that is that it comes with a built in GPS and 3G connection. how i see this X-series is that it's only one glorified sexy netbook with tons of features for $1300. if they would only replace the atom with a ULV chip, i would buy this thing at almost any cost. if anyone finds any detailed info about this notebook, please share in here!

    specs i found:
    - Intel® Atom™ Processor Z550 (2GHz)
    - US15W chipset
    - 11.1" (1366x768) widescreen, LED backlit
    - 64gb SSD
    - built in GPS
    - Verizon 3G network
    - wireless 802.11 b/g/n, bluetooth
    - webcam, face-tracking, microphone
    - 10.95" x 0.55" x 7.29", 1.6 lbs
    - Win7 32bit Home Premium

    [IMG] [IMG]

    Pros:
    - extremely thin and light
    - built in GPS
    - mobile 3G network
    - includes 2 batteries, 1 standard and 1 large
    - carbon-fiber casing, aluminum keyboard panel

    Cons:
    - atom processor
    - 2gb limitation
    - PATA
    - cost

EDIT: i just realized that it's the older PATA and not even SATA1! definitely 1.8" HD form factor, which means you're extremely limited on upgrading. even regular netbooks are better than this vaio in this aspect!
