    Hello guys,

I just wanted to share my excitement on the 3d marks 06 score that I got by overclocking the GPU on my VPC-Z12...

    So stock 3dmark 06 - resolution 1280 x 800 ( I can't change it cause I have the free version)

    stock - 475 core / 700mem - 6287 3dmarks
    o/C - 620 core / 910mem - 7912 3dmarks

    That's about 26% improvement!!
Max temp is 86 degrees and it's perfectly stable!! I was playing darksiders over 2 hrs with no issues!!

For such a small frame I think this is fantastic!! I'm very impressed by Sony's cooling system

    That's pretty impressive.
Do you feel a performance increase in games though?
With which program did you use to overclock?
    Thanks.

I think your mem clocks are too high. Since the VRAM chips are attached to the bottom of the keyboard assembly via two heat conducting strips, this might fry your VRAM or shorten its life span.

This is only a suggestion, what do you mean?

fantastic oc! i wonder how you pulled that off? do you live in a cold weather country? i test my oc's at 25c ambient or so, so that overclock is kind of impossible for me. my temps easily reached 93c while running furmark stability test at core clocks over 600. i am sticking to 550 core / 1250 shader. my memory is overclocked to 1012 mhz though. so i have about 32 GB/s on my memory bandwidth while suffering less than stock core/shader clocks

I'm definitely noticing the improvement in Darksiders. The game plays smooth on average but when there are many environmental effects like explosions etc I was noticing a choppy behaviour.
When overclocked though, everything was smooth even when the levels were full of env. effects so I was very impressed.

I'm in Miami, FL so.. no, I don't live in cold weather!

I used MSI's afterburning and I was increasing the core/mem speed with the sliders and testing with 3d marks after. In the end I put all the sliders to the max and (620/910) and it was still working stable so I'm quite happy with that.
It wont let me o/c any more than that since any increments higher than that are considered unofficial overclock and u have to modify the config files to allow u to go higher and I don't wanna do that (yet)!.

Interesting, MSI Afterburner caps my max at 585 for the core. Just out of curiosity, what nvidia driver version are you running?

    I rock 620/815
If i push the memory up more it will crash, or overheat.
    Underload it maxes at 92

It is cool, but I doubt the difference can be felt during normal gaming. Also this could be a one way ticket to shorten the life of your notebook.

Just thought I would add my experience with overclocking my 330m here. Overclocking the core up over 20% isn't as extreme as it may sound since Sony downclocks it 17% from factory ^_^ Also since settings and 3dmark scores are all relative I'll just focus on the changes. I used 3dMark Vantage plus the additional feature GPU tests. Each benchmark for each level of OC was run 3 times for an average score.

    Stock: 475/1045 700mem, 82 degress max temp
    OC1: 575/1265 780mem, 82 degrees max temp: 17.4% OC, 17.4% 3dMark Increase
    OC2: 600/1320 820mem, 84 degrees max temp: 20.9% OC, 21.4% 3dMark Increase
    OC3: 620/1364 820mem, 84 degrees max temp: 23.4% OC, 23.2% 3dMark Increase

Temperatures were measured using Furmark stability test for about 15 minutes. The temperatures during the actual benchmarking averaged about 72-76. I had initially done an OC up to 575 with MSI Afterburner and reached a max temp with that of 86 so I found it peculiar I was getting lower with a higher OC. I ran Furmark with the 620 OC @ 1920x1080 with 16x MSAA Samples, Xtreme Burning Mode, Displacement Mapping, and Post FX for half an hour and the temps never went over 84 degrees.

All said and done a 23% boost that increases temperatures by 2 degrees is perfectly acceptable to me! I have seen some posts of people hitting 90s so this may be a partial difference for the Z13 compared to the previous versions?

Using EVGA Precision with the 263.00 Nvidia Drivers.

WOW impressive! didnt think an OC'ed gt 330m can tie up with my acer 3820tg equipped with an unOC'ed radeon hd 6550.

was always jealous of the 13 inch z vaios, they are the closest things to my expectations of a "perfect laptop". too bad they r too expensive :(

With a little push, i know that the acer can reach 10.000 3dmarks 06 which is very impressive too.

However I still feel that for such a small frame it's amazing what the Z can do. And a 25% increase in performance for temperatures that are perfectly acceptable and very stable is simply awesome.

    Yesterday I passed the 7k mark.. 8029 3d marks! I love this thing :)
