    Hi guys!

    i just bought a Sony Vaio Z (1600x900 resolution) and noticed that the 1600x900 resolution is way to small for me, cant barley see any text on the screen ;)

    so when i change to the next resolution (1280x) all the text and fonts get horribly blurry and "loses" the crisp that it had in the 1600x.

    can i fix this somehow? i tried ti disable cleartype in vista but that didnt help.

    Using a resolution other than the native resolution on an LCD will result in blurriness. You need to increase the text DPI instead of lowering the resolution.

    Indeed. The Z has a 140 DPI display. Running it with default 96 DPI settings means flyspeck fonts and tiny icons and buttons.

    If you set the DPI correctly for all your computers, the same size font will look the same physical size on all of them -- just crisper and better defined on the higher DPI displays. And you'll also get WYSIWYG for printing - a line that is 10 cm wide on screen will be 10 cm after printing out too.

    Once you've set the DPI correctly, then (and only then) adjust the font size on the desktop and in programs to your liking.

    google for some software which could turn the resolution to lower 16:9 standard. 1280x800 is 16:10, try 1280x720 if it's available, it will be much better. otherwise, the noly way to go is increasing the DPI as lithus and arth1 has said.

    Maintaining the aspect ratio won't help that much with text. An LCD needs to be run at its native resolution for everyday purposes.

    Why are you using a 1280 resolution and not the 1366 x 768 resolution?

    also, you can increase the font size in your web browser settings which helps with certain types of formatted sites like Wikipedia. CTRL and + is good, and also Firefox remembers your zoom settings for each individual site I believe.

    i was about to use the 1366x768 resolution but its not available under the settings. i can only switch between 1600 and 1280x (and lower)

    is it possible somehow to "FORCE" the vaio in 1366x768 resolution?

    The 1600x900 version of the Z can't do 1366x768. YOu would have had to buy a Z with that 1366x768 resolution as I did. I also didn't like 1600x900, and fiddling with the DPI won't make you happy as it doesn't work well with every program.

    Of course you can select 1366x768.

    You have just to install the Nautis hybrid drivers.

    what the hell are you guys getting him to do?

    Increase the DPI in your control panel for font size.

    CP--> personalization--> tasks---> adjust font size
