Was away a couple days and turned on my Vaio Z today and it showed on the taskbar an "!" point in yellow with my Intel My Wifi Technology icon...I double clicked on it and it said "Network Adapter Not Found"...

"No Supported Intel Wireless Adapter was Found"???

It's so odd since I could have sworn I had seen this before when I was playing around with my laptop a week or so ago when I first got it and this was definitely working...I think it was disabled and I enabled it and then re-disabled it at the time since I didn't need to use it.

However, now I cannot even enable it...when I mouse over and right click on the icon for the Intel My Wifi Technology, everything is grayed out except for the option to "Open Intel My Wifi Utility."

Not sure if it was a Windows Update that screwed it up etc...but any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks =)

Do you have a WiMax adaptor (xx50 series), have installed any newer Intel GMA HD3000 driver (and its related Intel Wireless Display - the big culprit, in my experience), or let Windows Update (if it does this - it normally doesn't, but has screwed up before) install a new Intel WiFi driver?

The My WiFi thing is horrendously sensitive to instal order and config, I've found :(

actually...after tirelessly stressing over this (as i do with any issues with my laptop)...i realized i should just look up my bf's vaio z-2, as he just got one too...his has the older drivers for the wifi card and the intel my wifi technology...(14.0.0..) and mine is (14.1...)...

however, that was not the issue, somehow i had disabled the "wireless network connection 3" (under Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections...

i have no idea why i have 3 Wireless Network Connections either (sorry, kind of a computer newbie) but it seems now that the Intel My Wifi Technology/Utilities and the WiDi needs the "Wireless Network Connection 3" and possibly the 2 to be both enabled for it to even work...

BTW...just tested the Intel WiDi...it says "no adapters found" and I scanned it and still "no adapters found"??

Is this normal if I haven't set up anything (ie: TV etc) for WiDi at the moment? I just wanted to test that the WiDi program was functioning...but wasn't sure if its expected to say "no adapters found" if I dont have anything configured right now to set up/use WiDi?

    Thanks!!!

WiMax/WiFi is just that, your WiFi card. However, it seems the WiMax card drivers are stranger.

Intel GMA HD3000 is your GPU (for the Z2 2011).

Both are the primary components in your laptop responsible for WiDi functionality, in addition to the Wireless Display software.

You can go to the intel site and download the full not just the driver part of the wifi program. Run it and select custom not typical. Expand the tree so the My Wifi program is selected. Finish the instillation and the Intel My Wifi program should now work.

No adapters found message is normal if you havent hooked up any tv adapters.
