There have been many reports about Nvidia's chips being defective. IS the 9300 GS one of themm or is it safe to get a Vaio Z. Also I would like to know how the Vaio Z's 9300GS compares to the Vaio SR's ATI Radeon HD 3470. I wont be doing much gaming but perhaps in the future I'd like to play starcraft 2 or diablo 3.

According to Sony and nVidia, 9300GS are safe. According to Inquirer, you better buy ATI. I personally accept 9300 and Z because there is at least an Intel in there that makes it functional should the 9300 breaks.

SR's ATI is slightly better in benchmark compared to 9300GS, but I don't think it is enough to say that you have to go with SR if you want to do gaming. It does make you sleep better at night if you are concerned about the whole nVidia issue.

As far as I know there hasn't been any confirmed incident with the 9300 in any brand laptop related to this issue.

All there is is the rumor on the speculative website 'The Inquirer'.
