Hey guys, I want to upgrade my laptop to windows 7. I actually prefer to do a clean install but because sony are such A-holes, they won't update the drivers for the older Z series models for Windows 7 (Pretty much because their new Z series have windows 7 pre-installed). Anyways I couldn't care less about the bloat ware that comes with the laptop or anything along those lines.

Is it possible to do a fresh install of windows 7 (or even an upgrade) and keep the speed stamina functionality, the eject button, the finger print scanner, and the memory card slot working? I don't care about the S1 S2 buttons that much.

You can do clean install of Win7 on any Vaio Z with everything working. The only reported problem for some users is the audio through HDMI.

Thanks buddy. I just found the stickied guide for the Z series and Windows 7 x64, its a bit dated as in early 2009. I am gonna go for it since everything seemed to work for him. Thanks again.

I would recommend this guide, which I used for my clean install.

I don't have issues with sound through HDMI. I followed the same guide
