I am a fan of Sony, but the price tag on Z2 is expensive. Check the new Toshiba Z830 and Lenovo U300, U300S, U400. Same thin, if not thinner than Z2. Of course the spec is probably much lower, but they offer similar portability ultrabook.
Now, should I buy Z2? I don't see any reason why I need much horse power that Z2 offers. Core i3, i5 are enough I guess? Most important is ultra portability. Let me know what you guys think.

Otherwise, the title should be "Macbook Air has got competitors," and I belive this should be moved to the Apple section -
Is there anything coming to the market that is like the LG p330? Or a Vaio Z2 with a premier screen + really good video card? From what I understand the Z2's docked video card doesn't perform very well. I really want a machine to replace my Z1 that has a better video card with the same size and form factor. Anything come to mind?

Yeah, IMO, that laptop smashed the SE before it even came out
I mean, there is NO redeeming factor of the SE, unless if you need 1920x1080. -

The other light 15.6" portable is the panasonic let's note B10. 16GB RAM and FHD screen under 4lbs is not bad. Shame it's only available in Japan.

If it doesn't offer 900p or 1080p screen, not interested.
too bad.. i wish it was offered so i have a reason to move away from sony -

Also, the Vaio SE has the sheet battery for absurdly-long battery life. So while the Series 7 15" wins on CPU and GPU power, the Vaio SE wins on the display, weight without the sheet battery, and battery life with the slice battery. Neither model is better for everyone. -

The one point I'm most proud of my VAIO Z is its 1080p screen. It really puts most other notebook screens to shame. The ultrabooks are pretty decent for their size, but I don't see how they are competitors to the Z.
They are in different segments; maybe the higher end ultrabook configurations might tread on the Z's territory, but I don't see most of these manufacturers placing a full HD screen and a standard voltage i7 CPU in one of them sleek ultrabook bodies. It totally undermines the concept that Intel has envisioned. -

if toshiba would put a vibrant 1600x900 screen on its Z830 (like they did with their tecra's), and get rid of that ugly chrome hinge, I might get one just for the hell of it

The Lenovo U300 comes with standard voltage i7's.
