Hi Guys, My Month old Vaio z3 has suddenly developed flickering green lines on the left half of the laptop, and flashes white when the screen is dimming from being left alone, you can see in the pic. My question is this a warranty issue? I honestly have no recollection on anything happening to the laptop before this happened. I'm just worried that it wont be covered by Sony. I had a white line on my VPC-Z1 it was fully covered by the sony UE warranty (2 years) even if my laptop had more than 1 year old. I guess it is the same with the US warranty.

Assuming the repair tech can duplicate the issue, I think this would be covered. You might include a CD with a short video on it to make sure they see it. Also, be as detailed as possible on instructions to replicate the issue. The concern I'd have is that the tech would not see the issue and you lose your laptop for weeks for nothing.

Oh its permanent, its there from start up to browsing, and even when i go into Bios. I was just worried its a pressure issue, I know its isolated to the screen though, hdmi output is clean, I'm glad to hear that it probably will be covered.

The only stories I have heard about Sony not fulfilling its warranty obligations were when they allege that "owner misuse" is the cause. And you can't necessarily rely on the truth to take care of this. I would just recommend putting in some statements about your treating this computer like your "baby" and that you have done no customization and made no attempts to repair the problem yourself.

I'm not meaning to make you worry that you won't get warranty coverage, just that you will help yourself by eliminating the possibility that they will even delay you by an attempt to "sleaze out."

    Good luck.

I wish I sent it out with some of those comments yesterday when the box came in. I was hoping someone here has seen this kind of issue, and can tell that it isn't from misuse or negligence. I guess all I can do is cross my fingers, and hope to receive it back without any fuss, although I have already contacted my credit card company in case of any funny business. Thanks for your input!
