Anyone know how to get this working in XP? I can't find any tutorials online. I installed a IFX-498 in my Sony Vaio motherboard, but when I launch GlobeTrotter Connect it comes up with Device not found.

    Help is appreciated.

Did you try it in Vista and did it work ok?
Is the wwan module recognised in the device manager?
What WWAN card are you using?
May be your not using the correct software.
I assume that you've already switched the wwan module on using the Sony software. Some people that are not that familar with the Sony software overlook this.

I had the same problem in Vista. How do I go about switching the WWAN on in XP?

When I try and enable it though SmartWi, it times out and doesn't connect.

Try turning wifi and BT of if your trying to connect using WWAN.
The SmartWi software might only work with the Verizon/Sprint modules, you didn't state what WWAN card you're using. The software though still might allow you to connect if you're using a different wwan card.

Trying the EU Vaio smart network connection tool might be worth a go also.

Vaio Smart Network does not work on XP, use Wireless Switch Utility instead
