I haven't been keeping up-to-date on the latest Sony products since I've been happy with my current SZ, but I was taking a look at SonyStyle and noticed the Vaio Z6xx is out.

I configured (for a test) a Z690 with 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 400 GB HD, and premium carbon fiber weave lid, and it came to about $2050. This seems pretty good (although the last time I checked the Z was really expensive because it had just come out).

Does anybody know what changes there are to the 6 series? All I've noticed is it comes standard with 64-bit Vista and has an option for a 400GB hard drive. I'm wondering if any issues people have reported (like the screen being scratched by the keys) have been solved.

Basically the changes are 64-bit Vista, new CPU & hard drive options and maybe the lid is stronger/reinforced because of the screen getting scratched by the keys (according to one poster).

Whoa, the keys scratch the screen? Is this common?

Ohh okay. Just for my own information, does the scratching affect visibility when the laptop's on, or is it just a cosmetic thing that you can see only when it's off? (if such a thing even happens)
