well, when vista first released, there was a compatibility issue with vista and itunes. A patch has been issued since then, so no, there will be no issues what so ever with vista, vaio and itunes.

In concur. The current version of iTunes seems not to cause any problems under Vista.

The latest iTunes stopped working ...Vista Home Premium and VAIO VGN-CR220E. Was not able to install VAIO updates. The support could not recommend anything helpful.

Youll have problems out of the box with iTunes on a ARxxS or any XLs with RAID due to a compatibility problem with intels sata driver, playback in quicktime will suck ass too and youll be told one of your hard drives have failed. Never fear though theres an updated sata driver that fixes that and it doesnt really affect your hard drive. on these models with the updated driver and newest version of itunes along with other vaios itunes runs perfectly i dont think theres any software sony prevents you from installing plus it would be anti-trust

    Hi Forum,
    My first post here.
I am affraid there is problem with Vaio and iTunes.
I had no problems with iTunes and hp laptop for 2 years.
Since I moved to VAIO my iTunes reappears "naked". No music, No playlists!
I think it is VAIO Media Plus that does it. Every time it starts it destroys iTunes. And I must say I hate it!

I am not a fan of Apple's soft, but I have iPod Classic 80GB for half a year now, and I got used to it.
I can restore my playlists from iPod with Sharepod program, but it's boring and time-consuming job.

Any ideas what to do with it?

no offense but you are incorrect; no computer has any trouble itunes if anything there could be an OS issue as stated earlier but no brand issues.

If u r trying to transfer your itunes music from one computer to another you will have to authorize the new computer to do this otherwise your music won't play

I had no problem with music transfer from hp to vaio. Just copied music, installed iTunes and pasted old iTunes playlists to new computer. It worked perfectly for a month or so. But VAIO Media Plus asked me if I want it to rule my Music folder. And ever since I can not use iTunes. Every new playlist disappears. So it is the Sony software problem, I think.
I don't want to delete VAIO Media Plus from my laptop, but on the other hand I want to normally use my iPod and not spend my time searching Helps/Forums/etc.

there has to be an option in the vaio media plus to not control music; u could also uninstall and reinstall it see if that fixes it

I am having the EXACT same problem with my sony vaio. On my previous toshiba-i could import no problem. with the vaio, I can't get my library to stay in itunes. it stays on my iphone, but if i try to make any changes to the library-it asks me if i want to sync and it will erase everything. I just got off the phone with Iphone support-they told me to create a new user profile for the sony, add stuff, and shut down and restart. I'm about to do that--but the previous poster is not the only one experiencing this.

    anyone else?

or any other suggestions? if the profile change works, I'll add a post.

Yes I am ahving the exact problem with iTunes and Vaio Media Plus. Does anyone know how to stop VMP from scanning for media, other than deleting the program? This is very frustrating.

OK. I believe the fix is as follows:
    1.Open Control Panel
    2. Open Vaio Content Analyzer Settings
    3. In Music tab, uncheck "Analyze Music Files" and at the bottom uncheck your music folder.

I believe this resolved the problem. Please post if this works for any of you.

Wow so simple after being given the run around by Sony and the you have to pay for that advice from Apple. It can be so simple sometimes....take care

i have the exact same problem!!!!
What the hell is wrong with iTunes on my laptop?
For some reason ever since ive got this Sony VAIO laptop running vista home premium ive had problems with iTunes. Whenever i import songs it works fine and when i close itunes sometimes it says its saving my library but then if i restart my laptop or go back into iTunes there are no songs or anything there. For some reason it constantly puts the files 'iTunes Library Extras' and 'iTunes Library Genius' in the recycle bin. and whenever i restore them, within seconds they are in the recycle bin. WHATS WRONG WITH IT???. Don't suggest i use something like winamp or windows media player, i shouldn't have to use something different. Does anyone knows what i should do... pliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizzzzz Thank You

Same issue on a VGN-FW36GJ running Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I really don't want to spent time finding a fix for itune and sony during my leisure time, especially working in a IT Helpdesk environment. So if someone can find a fix, please advise. Cheers. My Fix atm is running Windows XP Pro on a vmware server 2 on my notebook. For now it's sufficient for the time being until a fix is ready for Vista.

I suggest that anyone having issues should sent an email to Sony tech support and they respond quite quickly.

Go to Sony Vaio website and download the VAIO Entertainment Platform Update (Expander) for your Sony laptop model. After the reboot, your itune should be fixed without having to uninstall/reinstall of itune.

I use iTunes with absolutely no issues on my TT - the main difference being that I have uninstalled all the excess Sony bloatware including its Media Plus software (its not needed unless you plan to use the Sony apps anyways...a clean Vista install would be even better though...)

If you don't need or use the Sony media software just get rid of it - iTunes can do all that for you anyways and you avoid any conflict issues as some people seem to be having here.

    Hi forum
    My first post also . . .
I have a similar problem. Running iTunes 9.0.2.25 and Vaio VGN-AW21M running Vista Home Premium fully updated.
My iPod Touch was perfecrtly happy synching with the PC until one day it decided to stop doing so. I booked a Genius appointment and took the PC and iPod into my nearest Apple store where the experts (after going through several layers of expertise!) pronounced that this was a known compatibility problem between Sony Vaios and iTunes.
I came here hoping that someone had already found the solution but it seems this is not the case :-(. I'm goign to take this up with Sony and see what they say.
If anyone has come across this problem before, please point me towards any solutions you may have found!
    Thanks
    Kim
