    Here is the story:

I purchased recently a Sony Vaio VGN-Z590. Additionally I have a Samsung LCD SYNCMASTER 214T. The O.S. installed on my laptop is Vista Ultimate.

When I try to connect the Samsung monitor to the laptop, the content that was shown on the laptop’s screen disappears. The Samsung monitor doesn’t show anything as well.

Many attempts to configure the external monitor through the control panel did not succeed so far. The appropriate nVidia driver is installed as well. Vista SP1 is installed too.

Let me describe the situation in further detail:

Through the “NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL” I choose “Set Up Multiple Displays”.

Under "Choose the nView display mode" the only option is "Only Use One Display - Single".

Now I connect the Samsung monitor. This causes both the laptop’s and the external monitor to show nothing.

If I connect the Samsung monitor then after like 2 seconds the laptop’s content is shown again.

Now for around 0.5 second, under "Choose the nView display mode" there are two additional options that related to adding an additional monitor. After like 0.5 second the only option is "Only Use One Display - Single".

Ridiculously, I can’t choose the other options within 0.5 second…

    P.S.
    Please look at the attachments.

--- Problem solved - the monitor's analog input seemed to be damaged so a digital cable solved the issue. ---
