my sony vaio is acting up. a few months ago my battery was shot and i brought it in, but since it was more than a yr since i had it, it wasn't under warranty. he said you shouldn't keep the battery plugged in if you have ac power running most of the time.
so now my computer has gotten worse. it has done blue screen memory dumps few days ago and the left mouse key button is very hard to press and that happened out of no where.
i have a 2 yr warranty that covers everything including damage that i cause to the sony vaio
problem is i dont know how to use the warranty.
what number do i call?
and will they give me a new laptop? sony credit? or try and fix mine?
i doubt they would give me cash for it.

Hey Michael, Call 1-877-865-7669. That is Sony USA's regular number, then do tech/support and tell them your problem. OR, if you have a SonyStyle store in your area with a Backstage, you can call, schedule an appt, and they will have a look at it and perhaps fix/replace parts on the spot. You can find out if there is a backstage by going to the SonyStyle.com website, and using the backstage store finder search. It's mostly in Metro areas, so if you live near a large/major city, you may have one. By major city, i mean, Chicago, Boston, LA, NYC, Miami, San Fran, etc.
They won't give you cash for it, that's simply not how most warranties work, but they will either fix it, replace it, or give you a "comparable" model(aka a newer model but with similiar specs).
If you have a 2 year warranty with Accidental Damage, you need to let them know that you have/provide proof of purchase/coverage. A proof of coverage certificate should have come via mail or in the box for your vaio when you purchased it that states you have a 2 year warranty. but, either way, if you bought it through sony, and you provide proof of purchse, they will honor your warranty. -
oh ok thanks. i do have a sony style store near me, but idk if it has a backstage.
i have the reciept i never got a certificate, but still.
well if they do give me a newer model i would just sell it.
also since the battery is shot, will they not give me a new battery if they gave me a new comparable model -
I would go in and see what they say... but obviously if they give you a "comparable" model, it would include new everything.
Eitherwya, if you have a receipt, you should be fine. Call Sony first or look if your store has a "BackStage"...it's like sony's version of apple's "Genius Bar". -
since my battery is shot should i still bring it with me?
hope they dont say its cause of the battery? and idk how they can fix it cause like it doesn't do memory dumps all time and the mouse clicker does always not click well, so yea idk what they will do.
i know my warranty covers damage i do to it too. -
so i went to the "Back stage" the guy said he would have to send it out to get the mouse pad fixed and it would take 7 to 10 days. then he said that he can tell if the computer has had a crash and it was probably caused by my hp printer, which honestly doens't make sense since i have had the printer forever.
My question is i asked him if they ever replace the laptop or give me an equivelant he said no.
im confused cause when i got my warranty the guy said it covers any damage i do to it, so if i were to drop it and it broke i could get an equivelant.
anyone have the terms and conditions of a 2 YR ADH CS PLAN
i wanna see what it covers. thanks
