Ok had this laptop for a few months now and it's been a persistent issue. To begin with it was minor and thought it was just the internet, but recently it will cut off so frequently. My previous laptop didn't have a single issue with the wifi in 2 years.
I have tried uninstalling and installing the driver (just the BCM43142 Network Adapter) but had no luck. However, I have checked the device manager today and a few things have popped up that weren't there before. Could someone please just tell me if out of this list there is anything I need to unistall/disable/etc
Basically under 'Network Adapters' it looks like this:
BCM43142 Wireless Network Adapter
Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter
Realtek PCie GBE Family Controller
WAN Miniport (IP) - Has a yellow exclamation mark
WAN Miniport (IPv6) - Has a yellow exclamation mark
WAN Miniport (Network Monitor) - Has a yellow exclamation mark
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really don't want to have to send it off for repairs already!

I've had WiFi issues with the cheaper Sony Vaio laptops before.
If there was no wireless card whitelist in the BIOS , I just changed the Wifi card to a better one ( e.g. Intel Centrino 6205) and the issue was solved.
Sony seems to keep using defective wireless cards for some reason. -
Had a suspicion it was a cheaper wifi hardware, I only usually get 2 bars signal upstairs whereas previous laptops have always ran full signal constantly upstairs.
So this one would do the job:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Centrino-Advanced-N-Dual-band-Wireless/dp/B00864Q45W
and is it relatively easy to replace it? -
Just researched the problem further, seems like it's a very common problem with the Sony Vaio Fit 15
Is it definitely possible to replace the wifi card on the Fit 15? And if so does it void my warranty? -
Could be a driver issue. My VPCZ1, hitherto blameless, has started showing this symptom after a driver update through Windows Update. Will try rolling back to see if that helps.

Oh it can definitely, and extremely likely, be crappy Intel drivers!
If it were just one VAIO, I wouldn't be sure, but I saw this on multiple computers! 2012/2013 version of Intel Wifi drivers is just S***! -
You have a Broadcomm BCM43142 Network Adapter try to get the latest driver version (not necessarily from Sony, but online you might find modified drivers) and see if that helps.
Check this out >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sony eSupport - SVF1521BGXB - Drivers & Software
I've also had problems with AR9285 cards and Sony laptops in general Sony uses crappy wifi cards in their laptops. It seems to me they try to find the cheapest and crappiest card to put in their laptops at the time of build. -
You are only allowed to modify your hdd, memory or battery (parts you can reach without opening the unit, except the cover for ram, hdd), Every other modification will cause your warranty term to be terminated. A end user is not allowed to open the bottom case. And change wifi boards / fans / what so ever.
And since the beginning of august sony has solved the problem by providing a new wifi board, you only need to send the notebook (fit , SVF14../SVF15..) to an autherised repair center so they can change your wifi board, this will take them 3 days (1 day order parts, 2nd day part will be delivered 3rd day unit will be shipped back) remind to backup your data, Repair centers can recover the VAIO if there is a password or what so ever on the unit.
Sony Vaio keeps disconnecting Wifi!
