    Hi NBR readers,

I have just noticed a price increase on Sony's Australia's website. As I have been taking an active interest in the Z series, I see the top Z model has increased by a staggering $1000!!!! (Around US$800). I am not sure whether the other models have increased in price.

Have you noticed any changes? I might just get the Z here in New Zealand as our prices have YET to increase.

Your Aussie Dollar took a big hit in the passed couple of months. Our Canadian Dollar too.

If they would have kept the old price it would be to cheap in regards to US pricing.

By the way, I don't know when is the last time you checked your dollar, but 800 US is now almost 1300 Aus.

It's very normal. A lot of my friends ordered Rolexs from Australia before the price hike.

I think at monent the Z is actually cheaper in NZ compare to AUS. I was lucky to get my Z27 before the price went crazy. It is a bit unfair IMO, bcoz they never readjust the price when AUS Dollars were almost equal to US Dollars. I clearly remembered the price of Z16/17 was about 600-800 dollars more then those Z540-590 when AUS dollars were still strong. Now they decided to rise the price!? So it's OK for consumers to pay more when AUS dollars are weak, but not the other way around when AUS dollars were strong? I was wondering if Sony were actually trying not to sell any of their Z27 in AUS? C'mon on, a 5000 laptop for Australian market, good luck with that.

Well, large corporations are always out there to make a buck I suppose.

I just checked Sony NZ's website now that it is the 1st of February. Guess what? They have increased the Z27 by a whopping NZ$1200 = AU$960! Come on, seriously, who in their right mind would buy the Z27 now for NZ$5499?

Sony, I can count using one hand how many Vaios you will be selling from today! Absolutely disgusting. How about old stock? They were bought months ago when the US dollar was weaker.

Z16 & 17 are still as their original price, I think. But I could be wrong, since they are not on SONYSTYLE.com.au any more. The very last time I looked before they 'gone' from the site, the price were same.
BTW $5499 NZD, whoa! -- You might consider trading one of your kindey for a Z27 with SONY NZ : ) For the sack of GOD, dose SONY know that not everyone in NZ drives Mercedes-Benz or Jaguar?

Good news! It is either Sony NZ is indecisive or they have had complaints about their increase in pricing.

The Z27 is back down to the original price of NZ$4399 on the website! Wow, this makes it so much cheaper to buy it in NZ than in Australia by nearly $1000. I could even get it on duty-free for another 12.5% less!

What is going on with the changes to pricing?
