    Good evening,

Bought a Sony Vaio notbook VPCYB45JB and just formated it, losing all the partitions, including the recovery partition.

Now I just bought the recovery disks from sony technical support (near my house). The problem is that this notebook model doesnt have a DVD reader driver.

Is there a way to copy the DVD to an external usb HD and make it boot? I did it and it keeps asking me to insert the disk, when trying to reinstall the drivers and says theres no disk when i try to boot it for a clean restore.

Searched for similar posts and no luck. Can someone tell me how to use an external usb HD to use the recovery thing?

Thanks and sorry for my english!

If you don't have DVD drive, how you can copy them to an external USB HD?
You can buy a cheap external USB DVD and run restore from it.
Your VAIO supports to boot from external USB devices.

    melhor sorte

ngvuanh, You never slow down to think. In another post http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/686730-draining-battery.html user rawmotion sought out assistance pertaining to "Draining Battery" and your response was "What is your other setting like brightness." ngvuanh, Have you not read rawmotion query? "I have my Power Plan in Windows Control Panel set to "Power Saver" and I have the screen brightness turned all the way down."

The question should be:Why do you ask questions that have been answered ngvuanh, I would request that you provide a useful solution to this issues.

And I did boot from my external hd... But when the rescue things starts to run it says theres no recovery media on it or no recovery partition.

Just dont wanna waste another $50 buying a external dvd reader just to restore my computer...

Here's how to legally download Windows 7 and make your own install disc. PCWorld Link: How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc | PCWorld

"Many computers ship without Windows 7 installation discs. Instead they come with "recovery" discs and/or partitions that claim to restore your PC to its "factory fresh" state, but include a ton of bloatware (free trials, media players, useless utilities, and the like) along with Windows. In this article, you'll learn how to make your own Windows 7 installation disc (or USB flash drive) and use the valid product key you already have to perform a fresh reinstallation. The following method is effective and legal, and doesn’t require a lot of technical expertise.

    1. Find your Windows 7 product key: Typically this 25-character alphanumeric string is printed on a sticker affixed to your PC or on documentation included with your PC.

    2. Download the ISO file for the version of Windows 7 you own:

    3. Download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. This utility lets you copy your Windows 7 ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive. Whether you choose DVD or USB makes no difference; just confirm that your PC can boot to the media type you select.

    4. Boot your computer using the Windows 7 DVD or USB flash drive. Follow the prompts to prepare the destination hard drive and install Windows.

Remember that you'll have to choose to boot off the USB drive. Before doing so, you may want to open up the USB drive and double click on setup.exe to see if everything looks okay."

    Thank you, Pisani!

Thank you for pointing it out for me.
My thought was not fast but perhaps my reading was too fast.
