Hey I really can't work this out. Im not too knowledgable about computers but i thought this would be simple. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

    I recently got a Sony Vaio svE1511k1ew which has 4GB DDR3 PC3 12800 RAM already installed.

I wanted to upgrade this to 8GB for some software and hardware im going to be running.. So i got a 4GB stick from crucial.com

Im nearly 100% sure i have the stick inserted right ive fiddled with it 100 times just to be sure. However my Vaio isn't picking the new ram up. Should the Vaio auto detect and i have just inserted the stick wrong? I've tried looking in the BIOS to see if anything can be done there but there isn't very many options and I dont know where to go from here..
    BIOS running are :

    Insyde h20 BIOS
    BIOS Version - R0180E5
    ME Version 8.0.4.1441

    Thank you!!

Sounds like you just don't have the chip seated completely. I had a 2 & a 4 gb in mine. Replaced the 2 with a 4 so I have the max now. Look closely at the contacts. You should see almost none of the copper showing when you push it in and before you flip it to catch the locks. Make sure you have it orientated correctly. There is a notch in the edge where the contacts are and it Try reseating both again.
