Hi, guys,
I am looking for some info about windows reinstall on my sony vaio vpceb3m1e. I bought this lap with Windows 7 Home Premium OA license. The hey for it is on the back of my computer. I've been working on it for 5 years now and I want to make it work a little longer.
One of IT specialist told that as long as I change my HDD to SSD and expand RAM, lap will be doing fine for some time.
Before I change those hardware parts I want to do more thing, very important - fresh install of Windows 7, without all those programs that come along with recovery version. Is it possible?
How to get fresh Windows 7, what version and will it work with my Home Premium OA key? Will the system work fine without this programs that come along with normal recovery version?
Thank you!

I agree. A ssd will make a world of difference. The ram upgrade might not be as noticeable unless you are using a lot of ram. When I did a reinstall of my SR vaio, the recovery media I made gave the the choice of a normal (bloatware) install or a "fresh" type install without all sony bloatware. You might just try installing your SSD and running the recovery media and see what options it has. I think your home premium key will work on standard home premium disc. Don't forget you can also run the magic jelly bean program to get your current win7 key and office key(s) if you need them. Your vaio will work with regular install of win7, but you may need to go to the sony support site and download specific drivers / chipset / etc. and if you have any specific function keys or sony hot keys, you will need the sony libraries drivers installed for those to work. You might want to check the vaio E or EB thread in the owners sub forum here for tips on windows reinstall.
