    Hi there.

I had some problems with my Sony Vaio recently and Sony changed the motherboard (laptop was still in the warranty period).

Today I tried to get a fresh start and tried to get the factory settings. I ran Recovery mode in Vaio Care, skipped the rescue disk and got this information: "An error occurred while executing an application. Cannot use this Recovery Media for this computer. Confirm the model type."

I have Sony Vaio VPCSB3N9E. HDD works fine and apart from new motherboard I haven't experienced any problems. And, to be honest, I haven't used Vaio Care very much. With Vaio I got original Windows 7.

Do you have any ideas how can I get the factory settings on my computer?

    Thanks.

did you create any recovery DVDs for the Vaio VPCSB3N9E before the motherboard was replaced? The system recovery DVD disc set should be used instead of using the built in Vaio care recovery program.

It looks like the new replacement laptop motherboard was not close to the original motherboard that broke down and that's why the vaio care recovery feature failed.
