I installed win7 om this laptop then the owner himself loaded win8 upgrade from Microsoft, now the unit doesn't boot to windows, after the power logo, it simply hangs with a blinking cursor. In the BIOS I am seeing in this order:
Optical Drive
Floppy Disk drive
Network
+Hard disk drive
as the options, first I don't know why the Hard disk drive option is showing that + sign? I also don't see an option to move the HDD up to first position? So I highlight it and choose F10 to save and exit. I also tried putting in a Win 7 OS dvd to see if it will boot off the optical drive but it doesn't. I tried booting the win7 OS DVD off of an External USB Drive, no luck, help?

Do you have a key to select your boot device at bootup? This seems like either a bootloader error or a mismanagement of loading devices.
What HDD controller mode do you have selected in BIOS? (IDE, SATA, RAID, etc.).
The + sign before the hard drive option should signify multiple harddrives. If you press enter on that option doesn't it load a list of HDD ports?
I'm not sure what else to suggest atm. -
I am not aware of any HDD controller mode?
Pressing on the + sign shows "Toshiba MK1031GAS-[PM]
