the 285 does come with the ati card and the gma is the chipset not the gpu, mind you the pre-made fw's only have 256mb on the 3650 ati card.

but it says 2280mb of video ?
Does chipset really matter in perfromance of GPU?

Well all I need to know is can this run Cod 4 at 50 FPS +?

I know realized where I wrote pre made, hehe. pre made is where it is already configured and built and not customizable.

the 2280mb is the shared mem with the ram, but discrete memory on the video card is only 256mb on the FW285.

I am not sure if it will run it, you can always ask in this thread

GMA = Graphics Media Accelerator, link

Haven't read anything about the FW but I guess it has Speedstep like the SZ. You can choose between the Intel or ATI GPU when selecting Speed or Stamina.

Yes it is, I thought it was referring to the chipset from intel the PM45, not GM45, my bad.

No the FW does not have speed or stamina, since there is no GMA in the ati version, just the the ati card, the Z series has the switchable graphics.

the PM45 is hte chipset, it either ships with the GMA - 4500HD from intel, integrated gpu or the ati card 3650.

Alright, here's the answers to your questions...

The notebook that you are looking at utilizes the PM45 chipset. As such, most chipsets include graphics whether it be discrete or integrated. The difference between these two being that discrete is a card hooked into a slot on the motherboard and typically soldered as well where as the integrated is a simple microchip soldered to the motherboard. While there are a few models out there that contain both an integrated and discrete graphics option which can either run separately depending on need or in tandem, this is still not a very standard feature currently. This was mainly because of the technology hurdles that had to be jumped. While the currently newest platforms do provide the opportunity to go down this road, notebook and ODM manufacturers do not have to implement it. It is simply still considered a costly option. So, most of the time this means you either get a discrete graphics card such as the ATI or you get an integrated variant such as the GMA 4500. As such, those that want to do some gaming are always advised to get the best graphics performance they can within their budget. The only real kicker being that discrete graphics such as the ATI typically draw more power so you may loose about 15 to 20 minutes of battery life overall in comparison to the integrated graphics option.

Now as for Futuremark and what they have listed... It is not uncommon for mistakes to be made in a product description on a major retailers website. Futuremark is actually owned and operated by Best Buy. Having previously worked at Best Buy for 2 years, I can tell you from personal experience that about 25% - 35% of the time there is something wrong with some items listed on the Best Buy website (whether it be something missing, wrong specs, etc.) for one reason or another. Likely reasons for misinformation to be published can range anywhere from someone inputing incorrect information, to someone not proof reading and checking correctly, to something that glitched with the website during page uploads or website management. Because Futuremark is essentially Best Buy as well, it would not surprise me if they experiences the same problems and frequency of these issues. In fact, you have already done what I would have told someone to do, that being going into a store and checking the hardware spec for yourself. So congrats on taking the logic step and finding that it is actually the ATI card that is installed in that particular pre-built retail model.

And finally, when it comes to asking what games will run on that systems specs, ascariss was right on the money when he suggested the game forum as that will be your best luck to find someone who has already tried it and can provide the best information.
