It seems that Sony is updating their FTP with Win 7 drivers. Some drivers are Alps touchpad(Win 7/Vista 64-bit), Nvidia 186.56(Win 7/ Vista 64-bit), Intel chipset, SATA driver, etc.

Where exactly in that link is the Nvidia 186.56? I can't find it anywhere.
-
GRAPHICS_DRIVER_NVIDIA_ALBATROSS4_S6_8.15.11.8656.ZIP - don't know if this is the same one.
Is it okay to install these, or wait until they have the actual files listed for each support page? -

Rajesh,
Great find, my friend! I just wish Sony would organize this in a little more user friendly way. It is tough to figure out which ones a person might need.
As a service to our other FZ brethren here (including me), can I get you to make a list of which files are necessary for your FZ190? (And if you would designate any differences in 64bit versus 32 bit where a different file is necessary.) That can also act as a model for what files others might need for their particular model.
Thanks!

I just want to ask a question, what do you need to install to make the volume slider (not the volume Fn keys) of my VAIO CS work?
-
You need to install (32/ 64 bit) SFEP driver, Sony shared library, Setting utility series and Vaio event service in the order mentioned.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
I already did (in the exact order) that but they still don't work?
All of my Fn keys work though. What have I done wrong?
Also, if I didn't follow the order above, I should uninstall all of them again right? I can uninstall MOST of them but not the Shared Library because it is not located in the Add/Remove Programs. -
Yes that site has way too any folders listed. I will post a clean install guide for Windows 7 once Sony officially releases drivers for Windows 7. Sony updates the drivers and utilities atleast once in a week in their FTP.
-
This 64-bit driver (Win 7/ Vista) is for Nvidia 9300M GS, 9600M GT and other Nvidia GTX series cards. Since Sony is updating drivers, you can wait till Win 7 is officially released.
-
I hope there will be a driver for the z hybrid gfx driver.
-
I literally did a clean install of windows7 on my fz21s today, and was wondering what i should do about drivers, since my recovery disks wont work (but do have the back up on CD)
-
Were the files taken down, or is it not showing up for me?
-
Updated the drivers and tools on my z yesterday. Everything is working except the brightness control with the fn keys, now also in stamina mode. I hope sony will give us 32 bit 7 drivers for the hybrid gfx...

Same problem

kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
What graphics driver version did you install?
I just might be able to help you. -
First i was using the sony boxed vista driver, then i updated to nautis driver. Same problem with both drivers.
-
Same problem here as well.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Well, I used the Vista x64 driver here: http://www.vaio-link.com/os/vista/64bit/ specifically EP0000162764.zip .
This is a Vista x64 driver, it is not a Win7/Vista x64 driver. When I installed this, I got the brightness adjustment feature. Even though this is older than the latest drivers out there, at least the brightness adjustment works.
With the laptop2videogo driver, which is updated, I don't get the adjust brightness feature.
You may give this a shot.
-
You get brightness control in both? Stamina and Speed modes?
I'm using a 190series driver on my Z Series, and the brightness only works in Stamina Mode. -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
Sorry I forgot to tell I have a VAIO CS Series
-
You can get the latest Nvidia 9300M GS (non hybrid) driver version 186.56 for Win 7/ Vista 64-bit in the FTP.
-
Has anyone tried upgrading [instead of clean install] from a vista-64 bits?
I am getting incompabilities like I have to remove live one care [virus program that I will do anyway] and Vaio Care. Does the update process automatically update the drivers for the incompatible items? -
So, installed some of the control center, Power Management, battery stuff and what not, and now battery care function isn't working any more, nor is many of the other control panel features. Any idea?
-
So, I reverted back to one version before the latest version of Vaio control center, and battery care, and quick charge are working again. AH!
-
Can anyone help me and point me directly to the proper Win7 x64 drivers for my Z550N/B ?
Please guys -
Not all Windows 7 drivers are posted in the Sony FTP. You will have to wait for 2 more weeks for the official release of Win 7.
-
Okay, thanks!
-
Guys,
Hi! I have a TZ21 and was trying out an upgrade to Win 7 Pro 32 bit and the system prompted that the Tosh BT driver was incompatible. I tried looking up the FTP site, but it is very confusing.
Anybody knows which one it is and any other drivers that I need to download before upgrading?
Thanks, -
Uninstall all drivers and use default Windows 7 BT Drivers, everything should work. IF you REALLY need to use the Toshy Stack for some reason, correct me if im wrong but the Toshy BT Stack is based off WIDCOMM stack, you can try getting WIDCOMM for Windows 7 from Broadcom site.
-
Do you have Toshiba or Broadcom bluetooth?
-
I have Z590 and here is what I downloaded and installed and they work perfectly on my Windows 7 RTM

Does anyone else have a system with the blu ray burner? If so, is it working? I have tried to install the supplied drivers from the sony support site and have had no luck. The system still just thinks it's a CD ROM. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks. -
Do you know if thes will work with a Z-790? I don't know what the international model equivalent number would be.
-
did you get the brightness keys to work in SPEED?
-
Just curious - are they also going to offer 64Bit drivers for the good old SZ series?
I could go completely mad and try Win7 64Bit on my SZ given that all I need is easily provided.
(I played shortly with Win7 32bit and had some Fn key trouble) -
Just wondering, in recent forthcomings with Sony releasing VT BIOS updates and the likes (meaning Windows 7 is BLOODY CLOSE now), I was wondering if somebody could help me with my clean-install driver issue?
My Z26 came with a 32bit Vista Business from factory, meaning it works and is only supported by Sony with 32bit drivers.
The Z26 has a P8600 C2D CPU and 3GB RAM - essentially, it is a 2nd gen Z (just see my sig...).
One thing it doesn't have is WWAN, GPS and bluray (which are the only differences I see)
Simply saying, with VT released and all, I want to clean install my Z26 with a 64bit Windows 7 and run XP Mode to get my non-compatible-with-x64 software up and running.
Just wondering if there are any C2D P8600 users who had their Z shipped from the factory with a x64 OS?
I need to track down the chipset driver, the graphics, and basically, everything in the x64 flavour. I can't log onto Sony Europe or America because:
1st, my model ain't supported anywhere else except in Australasia
2nd, I don't know what model to choose to bypass the choose model stage at the internation Sony Support sites...
Also, since I am installing 7 as a x64, will XP in XP Mode be x64 as well? Or will that be x86?
Cheers in advance. -
Sony won't be providing specific 64-bit drivers for your model. You need to get a grab of various 64-bit device drivers (other models with similar hardware) by yourself. Sony is really bad in supporting 64-bit OS for older models.
-
You can use Uniextract software to extract the driver set up files from the Sony supplied driver package in the esupport site. This will allow your laptop to bypass model and OS checks.
-
I think I'll stay with Vista 32Bit then.
I really don't feel like looking around for stuff...
Especially since Vista Works.
I may have been able to get better performance out of Photosop if I wer to go 64Bit, but then, if I save 20 minutes once a month or less doesn't really matter.
(Panoramas)
Thanks for the reply.
I feared that. -
I would go with 64-bit. You can get help here for your SZ and 64-bit Windows 7. I believe that except the hybrid graphics drivers (if not available), everything else should work in 64-bit without problems for your SZ.
-
Let's see
I recently reinstalled Vista - so I'm not keen (that's when I played with Win7 for a few minutes).
I'll see. Thanks again
You should have + rep

Ok
I made it into eSupport...
I don't know what model to choose. I have the Z26, and have no idea what the American equivalent is. My specs:
P8600 C2D (2.4GHz), 320 Hitachi 7K2, 256MB nVidia Hybrid, 1600x900 LCD, 0.3MP webcam
The Z26 has everything BUT:
Bluray, WWAN, GPS
I am looking for x64 drivers for all my bits and bobs. The Z26 came preinstalled with x86, and Sony don't seem to want to help me find the right x64 drivers...
Can an American resident inform me on which Z (I am guessing Z5 series in the States) is extremely similar or identical to the Z26, and point me to a Sony x64 driver download page for that model?
Cheers in advance -
You can look here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNZ590&LOC=3
(Use Universal Extractor software to extract the driver set up files) -
Only ~9 more days until the release of Win7, if you can wait until the drivers officially get released by then.
-
I still have had no luck with any drivers for my NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT. I have tried several Sony drivers (both from the website and ftp), laptopvideo2go and the NVIDIA website. No luck. I'm going to reinstall to 64 bit tonight to see if that driver on the Sony ftp will work.
I did want to point something out to everyone though. I noticed there was some talk of getting drivers for other OS's to work with 7. I found by right-clicking the driver there was a 'troubleshoot compatablity' (or something similar, third choice from the top) selection. If you go through the menus it will allow you to decide what previous version of Windows you would like to 'simulate' to install the driver. Hope that makes sense.
If anyone has anything they feel will benefit my problem, please let me know.
thanks! -
I am not sure if it works with Z790. However I believe it should work fine.
-
Brightness in Speed mode is a different story. It is driver issue. We need to wait until Sony release new video driver for Windows 7.
-
I am running Win7 RTM 7600 and it can detect my bluray drive.
It shows BD-RE Drive.
-
The Blu Ray player was detected properly in the device manager. The problem was when i tried to play a disc I would get an error from PowerDVD concerning my video card. I have now used a driver supplied by 'Dox' on the laptopvideo2go.com forum. I now can play Blu Ray discs. However, I now have a problem with the 'aero' functions. I have previously posted this in a different thread but I wanted to respond to your post as well.
