I've been considering between the Sony Y and U35 (the "F" version, which does not have discrete graphics). The Asus has the obviously stronger processor with the i3-370m 2.4ghz, however I am rather enamored with the Sony's keyboard and solid feel. I'm huge on keyboard quality (do a ton of writing for work), so it's literally enough to disregard the better processor.

I had someone tell me that the ASUS keyboard is actually close to the level of quality of the Sony, but I've never tried the U35 (I've only tried the UL80, which had a large amount of flex).

Anyone who also appreciates the particular style of the Sony keyboard have any experience using the Asus (any of the 13.3" models, as they should be the same in that regard)? Compare?

Also, how does the UM i5 compare to M i3? Basically I'm looking for justification to make the cpu compromise in favor of the Sony, given that the Sony is $100 more.

    best wishes,
    C

Edit: meant U35, not ul. whoops.

Heya. Thanks for the input, Andrew08. My mistake on the UL35, I meant the U35. *self smack*

Doesn't look like the Sony comes with an SSD. There's a $500 250gig ssd option, though. Yipes. I plan on buying an SSD to replace the drive of anything I buy, eventually. I think the ASUS can take 8gig of ram as well, just not included. RAM is usually cheaper bought separately anyhoo. Mostly I was looking for opinions on the keyboard of the Asus (may seem silly to some, but the keyboard quality is a big sticking point for me). Asking here rather than the Asus forum because I'd like the take on it from people who have used and like the Sony keyboard. Seems like more people who have used the Sony are familiar with the ASUS than the other way around.
