I left my Z sitting too long not connected to power (in sleep mode) and the battery ran down. Now it will not boot up. It won't start off battery, off of power, off of power without battery -- it just blinks green, I can hear the DVD drive momentarily engage, there is a slight "beep" -- it tries this about three times before giving up and shutting down.

I'm baffled and I need to get some work done today on it, so it would be great to fix.

Try taking out the battery, press the power button for 60s, put the battery back, put in the power cord and turn it on. Lets see if there will be any change.

No change. Does the same deal where it makes the noise, and blinks green at me.

Hmmm, than I don't know. Hopefully someone else will know. The only thing I would try would be taking out one memory and trying to start it again (try it for both of them), for the case that the memory is dead.

:( guess I won't be getting that work done today. Thanks, Sony. I haven't even had this thing a year and it's babied...

pull ac, battery & ram - let sit for 15 mins. Add RAM. Hold power button for 10 seconds, release and add AC power - hit power button. If this doesn't work maybe motherboard

I will give that a try -- what does it do? Reset some inner battery?
