    Hello,

I have been reading the threads over a week now and it looks as though I am not alone with the issues I have had with my Z. It has been a wonderful computer while its not at Sony for repair. I have had the Fan, screen and now the HD go out on me. This time, Sony is saying a power surge caused the failure of my drives. It is still under warranty, but they want 1250 and change to fix this!

Looking through the threads, it seems Sony has done everything they can to get out of repairing these laptops. They did not want to fix it or look at it because I am in Canada on business, but it was purchased in the US. It seems odd that since my mailing address is in the US, they would consider only the origin of shipment. Once I talked some since into the person on the phone, they reluctantly decided to help.

I need help battling Sony and these power surge claims. This is absolutely the worst electronics service I have received. I have had better service from Vizio of all companies.

Call again? Say you were running off of battery when it happened so it cant be power surge... Where are you located. that matters too. I actually had fairly decent service with Sony, they replaced my fading palmrest with 2 days left on my warranty and they're now replacing it again because i messed up my touchpad 2 months after my warranty is out (well because their fix extends the warranty 90 days for the parts they worked on)
