    Hello,

Anyone know where I can find the Infinite Stripes, Metal Mosaic or Metal Shield Lid replacement parts or numbers for the VPCZ1 series?

I am looking to get rid of this Premium Crapum Fiber lid. (don't care for the look of it)

    Thanks!

Provided the OP is talking about the VGN-Z series, I too would be interested in knowing the part no. for a Premium Carbon Fibre (glossy), brushed pattern lid.

I don't remember there being a glossy premium carbon for the VGN-Z.

    Hmm...
I might be suffering from a little misunderstanding then. Cause I found this:
    VGN-Z58GG : Z Series : VAIO Notebook : Sony Asia Pacific

That's the very last Oceania VGN-Z (5th gen) before the VPC-Z series rolled out. It is featured with 'Premium Carbon Fibre', with me assuming premium being automatically glossy for the VGN-Z. I understand the VPC-Z can either be GLOSSY PREMIUM CF or just PREMIUM CF, with the latter not being as glossy as the former.

Anyways, another site (this time VAIO Japan).
Again, this is for the last of the Japanese VGN-Z (with Japan only getting 4 generations worth of the VGN-Z series).
    ƒXƒyƒbƒN | ZƒVƒŠ[ƒY | »•iî•ñ | ŒÂlŒü‚¯ | VAIOƒp[ƒ\ƒiƒ‹ƒRƒ“ƒsƒ…[ƒ^[ | ƒ\ƒj[

To translate for you, from left to right, top to bottom:
    - Tatami-mat matrix
    - Broken glass matrix
    - Dotted matrix
    - Kaleidoscope
    - PREMIUM CARBON
    - Bordeux (red)
    - Black
    - (not mentioned in the 4th gen VGN-Z link above, but with the 3rd gen Japanese Z are also SHADOW BORDERING and LINEAR STORM).

So all up, a total of 9x lid patterns (with 2x or so more missing, notably the limited edition CARBON GOTHIC and CARBON ORIENTAL GARDEN patterns present on Western 3rd gen VGN-Z. I also recall a 007 version having a silver, brushed magnesium-alloy lid but can't accurately remember*).

Basically, can you (Ota-con, or anyone else knowledgable with the VGN-Z) absolutely confirm there are no glossy lids for the VGN-Z model? Regardless, I'm keen for the highest-end lid. And considering there is only one lid labelled as 'premium', I assume that (PREMIUM CARBON) is the best there is for the VGN-Z?

...though I swear reading something about GLOSSY premium carbon lids, but that could have been for the VPC-Z...

*I do recall that machine being sold off at a charity auction event in Europe somewhere. Either that was the only one of its kind, or at the very maximum less than 100 were ever made (thus ruling out possibility of sourcing the said part??).

I had a 5th generation VGN-Z and it featured a premium carbon fibre lid but it didn't look like the premium carbon fibre of the VPC-Z.

I am almost pretty sure there was no glossy premium carbon fibre lid for the VGN-Z...maybe they had it in Japan?

Hmm... Judging from the Japanese links I posted earlier I would then have to assume there were NO glossy CF for the VGN-Z. I guess reading alot into the VPC series got me muddled up.

Being a former piano player I was (and still am) mesmorized by that glossy, brushed-metal, piano black finish on the VPC-Z (**drooling**). Not your everyday HP or ASUS lid, which makes it even more appealing.

Either way, it makes my task alot easier; there's just one premium lid for the VGN-Z, hence just one part number. By any chance, IF you ever took your machine apart, did you happen to see a part number? Not asking you to take apart your machine mind you; if you don't know / can't, all good.

I'm just thankful for the clarification and help.

I also like the glossy carbon fibre look.
That's why I bought the Z138GG to replace my Z117GG with non glossy premium carbon fibre.

Sorry, I never took the VGN-Z apart...

I'm going to guess that the OP is talking about the VPCZ because those patterns are currently available in Japan.
