Well, I'm still trying to find a Sony Z in stores (BestBuy has one and its not even powered)... but I was wondering how the resolution is for the Sony Z with 1600x900 resolution? Does anyone have both a Sony Z and a EEEPC 9"? How do the resolutions compared? Is it bigger or smaller than a 9" Netbook with 1024x600?

You may want to take note that the Vaio Zs sold at BestBuy feature the 1366x768 resolution screen & not the 1600x900 resolution screen...

To give you a very non-scientific answer, EEE is 1024x600=614,000 pixels which divided by 9" = 68,200 pixels per inch. Sony is 1600x900=1,440,000 pixels divided by 13=110,800 pixels per inch. Which kinda tells you that, more or less, the magnification on the EEE is a little under 2 times on the EEE, or, what you see on the EEE appears half the size on the Z

Ouch! I have seldom seen maths being applied more wrong, so I really hope you don't work somewhere where maths or geometry is needed.

    - The screen size is measured diagonally.
    - The pixel count is area, not linear

What you see on the screen of the Z does not appear half the size of what it is on the EEE. That's just plain wrong.

    Using Pythagoras, we find that:
    For a 1024x600 9", you have a 7.7" X 4.5" screen with 131 DPI
    For a 1600x900 13.1", you have a 11.4" x 6.4" screen with 140 DPI

In other words, a bitmap displayed on both screens would appear approximately 7% wider and taller on the EEE than the hi-res Z. Hardly "twice".
It would cover around 14% more area (since you're maths challenged, that's calculated by 1.07^2, not 7+7). Again, not twice.

I do have a picture of my old EEE S101 (1024*600 on 10.2") vs my TZ (1366*768 on 11.1"). The letters on a Z with the 1600*900 screen are about the same size as on my TZ.

S101 has larger letters but the 9" EEE use the same resolution resulting in smaller letters. The calculation above proves that. The higher resolution gives a much better useability, regardless of letter size!

You can always adjust the font sizes to your liking anyhow. Higher DPI only means crisper and better shaped text, not smaller. (Of course, you can make the text smaller, but if you do, don't complain about it being too small...)
