    Hey guys,

I just got my new Vaio Z! I love it - it's so light and it's a beast in itself.

One issue I did have though is that when I use my HDMI--> DVI to my external monitor, my external monitor cant' display anything, in the sense that it just alternates every .5 secs between a black screen and a fragmented screen of my desktop. I set both refresh rates to be identical - does anyone know the cause?
    Thanks in advance!

Hmm, does the external monitor have auto-adjust? When you say identical rates, are you refering to the laptop and external monitor's rates? Did you try with a different monitor?

I'm having a similar issue. Everything is fine with my Z12s VGA to VGA but HDMI to DVI just results in no signal, even though the computer recognizes the screen is there. I'm trying to connect to 1920x1200 by the way.

have you had any luck with it yet?

I've seen something similar when connecting to an external monitor via DVI. The way I fix it is to turn off the external monitor until the laptop screen stabilizes (stops flashing from black to normal), then turn on the external monitor.

Not sure if this will work with hdmi - I have had no need to use the hdmi port as yet.

I've tried keeping it in speed mode but still no luck. I don't even get flashing- just no signal. Nvidia control panel can see the monitor and it's resolution but the screen just stays blank.

I know it's a silly question but have you enabled the desktop to stretch or mirror onto the external display? You need to do that. You can use the fn-f7 for that.

Yep, according to the Control Panel -> Display (and the nvidia control panel) the monitor has the desktop extended on to it and is set at the correct resolution (1920x1200) but the screen stays blank. the same screen works fine through VGA to VGA.
