    Good Morning All,

I recently bought an Envy 15. I like the machine; it is powerful, pretty compact, and I enjoy the real estate. I <3 1080p screens.

However, I am beginning to second-guess, with the new Sony Z signature series giving me pause.

So, before I write it off, I want to know about the screen.

I know it's 1080p, but will many programs take up the entire screen? I prefer the 15-16" screen for the ability to multitask within the screen itself (so I'm not alt-tabbing constantly). Would I be able to do that with a 13.1"?

Typically, I play Football Manager 2010, Out of the Park 10, use Microsoft Office, surf and have Digsby up. I play FM/OOTP while writing in Word (or WordPad), and talk on Digsby. (I do other things with my machines, like some 3D gaming, more intensive Office work, web creation, podcasting...but these programs get the most action.)

Would I be able to do that here?

Any help would be appreciated. The clock is ticking on a return to HP, and while I'm very unlikely to do that, I am very, very impressed with the Sony. And, with the money I spent on the Envy, it's only a fraction more for the Z (though the 20% Bing Cashback via HP would be missed).

    Thanks,
    John

if you can deal with the same number of programs on 13.3 screen compared to your 15 screen then yes. only you can be the judge of that. the resolution of both screens is the same so everything will be about 20% smaller.

That is perfectly fine with me.

I guess the question also would be...would I see a performance loss? I have in i7 820, 8 GB RAM (1333), two 160 SSD, and the 5830. I imagine I will not, though I wonder about the graphics card.

It is very tempting. I will only have this kind of opportunity once, so I just want to be sure I am getting the right thing. I do like my Envy. However, for the investment, I want to be absolutely sure.
