    Hey,
I have searched and found links, and broken links, but I am at a total loss after 4 hours trying. I hope you can help. I have just installed Windows 7 64 bit onto my new VGN-Z21WN/B and managed to get everythign working appart from the 3G Modem. I have managed to get the 64 bit version of the connection program working.

But I cannot for the life of me find the 64bit drivers for the module itself.

    PLEASE help :)

    Will

Thank you, also not working for me.

I have one device left in Device Manager as Unknown, I guess this is the 3G card.

It won't work, since Z21xx comes with Option card, not Gobi Qualcomm one.
I just try to reinstall W7 x64 2 days ago, and I didn't need the Gobi Loader. It worked perfectly.
@wcavanag: Since you are not sure about what you are missing, why don't you tell us your hardware Id of your device?

Yes, I installed the RTM. Here are the steps:
    - Install SmartWi. Restart ---> Active the WWAN
    - Install GobiUNDP driver(the one from Sony). Of course, I replaced the DIFxAPI with the one from W7.
    - Install GobiUNDP Image.
    - Now, your 3G device must be recognized. So install the 3G Connection Manager. I use the lastest 5.1.1.
    - 3G Connection Manager will detect the right option for your Sim card. It's not my case, since it shows Orange France (Enterprise) for me. I modify it myself to Orange France (3G) and it works.
I don't need Gobiloader or modify any others files.

    Vaio Smart Network 2.1 (Don't try 2.2 or 2.3): ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/VAIO SMART NETWORK 2.1_ 2.1.00.07300.ZIP
or SmartWi (if you want to have GPS): ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/SOAOTH-00175575-US.EXE (Use universal extractor to bypass the model checker)
    Gobi Driver + Image: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/WWAN_DRIVER_OPTION_1.0.09_00.ZIP
    3G Connection Manager: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/OR..._R4_1.X_64BIT_E_5.1_ 5.1.1.341A_64BIT_ENU.ZIP

@wcavanagh: They won't work for you because that's only for Gobi Qualcomm card. Yours comes with an Option card. I have never had a Z with the Option card, but I don't think it's the same as the one from the SZ71WN (I once had a SZ71WN). Maybe you can try to download it here:
    http://www.option.com/en/support/software-download/

@NHT: Can you post the content in your file:
    C:\Users\All Users\QUALCOMM\QDLService\QDLService.txt
once you started the wwan module and successfully connected to your sim card/network?

    Thank you :)

For some reason my QDLservice hangs at some point while trying to send the image file. And then it has a time out error and the service and the device stop to work...

Right now I am reverting back to Vista ultimate to check if it works there.

If so, I will try a win7 rtm upgrade. If it does not work then, I will probably try a clean install of win7 rtm...

Made the Upgrade to Win7 64-bit RTM Ultimate de-de.
This time I left all wireless options turned on since I was hoping it makes a difference...
And voila... it did. I am not sure if it actually was the fact that it was turned on or that it is the RTM... Probably both.
Having WWAN turned on during the upgrade process might have given Win7 the chance to actually "realize" that there is more than just the QDLloader; making sure the actual hardware emulation works.

Hope it still works tomorrow though... :err:

Now I only need my upgrade key from sony... XD (hope it does not take longer than 120days... or I am screwed

There are 64-bit drivers that work with Z21WN/B. First, you have to activate your adapter, because the default mode for the WWAN module is power off. That is why you can't see your adapter within "unknown" group in Device Manager. Install Vaio Smart Network, this version worked for me (I also have Z21WN/B):

    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/VAIO SMART NETWORK 2.3(092Q) - 2.3.0.12210.ZIP

The Option module will come up and Windows will probably identify the device and install correct drivers automatically (it did it for me). Then you can update the drivers manually from this package for example:

    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/Original/WIRELESS_WAN_DRIVER_OPTION_4_92_2_4.0.6.0_LOGO.ZIP

There are some newer driver zip-files on the same FTP, but I didn't try them (yet).

BTW, these new drivers that I've found on FTP are not suitable for the card installed in Z21WN/B. The link I posted earlier today has to be the latest drivers available. I can't find any drivers at all on the Option's website...
