    Hi,
just got new Z13 from US (bought it several weeks ago actually). I found how to connect to other GSM network, but i understand that broadband module can work in CDMA and 4G mode also. Anybody managed to connect to such providers?
There is Sony Z in russia, which connects to GSM and 4G network (Yota), tried to install russian 4G software, but it says that modem is not found.

The Gobi 2000 module does not support 4G (LTE) networks!
It works on 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) as well as 3G (HSDPA/HSUPA/UMTS) networks.

I'm not sure about CDMA, but I guess it should support that too. At least it does read CDMA SIMs.

LTE devices are still quite hard to find and very expensive.

Yes, you are right, this is a wifi module, which also supports 4G. Although when i looked at Sprint broadband settings - there is 4G metioned there...

Are you sure it's the Gobi 2000 that supports WiMax? I though there was another device since the US models don't have WiMax...unless there's different versions of the Gobi 2000?

Wimax support in most notebooks (including Sony) comes with using the proper intel wlan card.

That was what I was gonna say - WiMax should (eventually) be supported by the WLAN and not by the WWAN as far as I know...

Gobi 2000 does not have any other functionality except 2G/3G/3,5G + GPS.

Oh yeah now I remember, its the intel centrino 6250 that supports WiMax. USA Z models come with the Intel 6200 which doesn't have WiMax. The Gobi 2000 has nothing to do with it. So if you have a USA model, you are out of luck unless you want to change your WLAN card.

Anyone know if the 6250 requires an additional antenna for WiMax?
