I've read plenty about not being able to use both the VGA and DVI on this dock and lack of support for Dual Link DVI (i.e. for a 30" monitor).

But what about the Dock's DVI for one monitor and an external display hooked up to the HDMI port on the laptop itself, both at 1920x1200, and neither requiring Dual-Link.

Won't work. The HDMI exit is deactivated when the a dvi cable is plugged into the dock. I have the dock connected to a screen through dvi myself, and to be able to connect my TV through HDMI, I have to undock my Z or disconnect the DVI cable first.
