Did an HD Tune of my then new Sony Z1 with 512 GB SSD when I got it in June 2010.

Now, 3 years later, as it is being replaced by a Sony Vaio Pro 13, I've run HD Tune again.

Significant noticeable disk performance degradation over the past year, which is clearly visible in the HD Tune test as well.

Anyway, just thought I'd share this for posterity..

What else did you have running in the background while the second test was running? Unless you just did a clean install (and nuked any VAIO bloatware - PMB PLEASE!) it is very likely you have accumulated some junk programs over the years that periodically access the SSD.

Try running resource monitor while HDTune is running and see if the disk activity graphs track.
