    Hello, first time poster here!

I'm starting school in the fall and have 4 months before I'll be needing my computer. I want to get a Z11, and apparently, there is a 7% educational discount on RTS models.

Since I have the luxury of some time before I need to buy, I was wondering what deals others had seen on the Z's.

    Thanks!

Sony's tight on offering any incentives. Some have received 15% off the laptop itself for also buying an extended warranty and two accessories.

    a few options:

    1. direct from sonystyle
    as gjbenn said...
extended warranty + 2 accessories. sometimes they will budge to 15% with ext warranty + 1 accessory.
but the 15% off is only on the system, not the entire order. be prepared to pay tax. you can push them upgrade you to free express shipping without any hassle (free).

    2. tigerdirect + bing cashback (get 12.3% off and no tax + FS). prebuilt models.

    3. microcenter has the z112 model (128GB i think) for $1699 instead of $1899. be prepared to pay tax though.

i opted for #1 but it's also the only way to get a discount on a custom order AFAIK.

I don't see the Z11 at all, if you want a customized one then try option one, also try to call j and r, they are located in NY, and they ship out of state no tax!! and free shipping, the only thing it has two ssds, one 64 gig and a 128, just pretty pricey from what one doesn't want but its a powerful machine for its size and has a amazing matte screen and so so much better than using a m11x!

I am looking for a deal as well. Tigerdirect cashback is down to 10% now, hopefully it will come back up in the next month or so. Without having to pay the hefty California tax, that's the best deal I can find.

Guys, technically all states mandate you pay a use tax on any and all goods you bring into your state on which you did not pay sales tax.

Do not get too excited about not paying sales tax. While the odds of an audit are low, you will end up paying it if one does occur. And more states are clamping down on people not paying use taxes (not showing any use tax on your state 1040 is one thing that can trigger it because states know most people purchase online).

Yes so i figured, a freaking federal reserve and a federal tax law under the 13th amendment that was and still is total bs, the money given to the IRS goes no place to us except to the fat wallets of Goldman Sachs and co!!! Now these days its easier sometimes to get things online then to go to a store especially rare stuff.
