I was curious if anyone knew the input power requirements for the Sony V12? I tried reading the online docs and searching the Sony store, but I was unable to find the information.

As far as I can tell, the unit comes with a 90W, 19.5V power adapter. They also offer a "Stick" adapter which is 19V.

I would like to leverage my universal power adapter, but before I dare to try, I need to get the specs on the laptop.

    Thanks for the help!

You've answered your own question. It's 90 watts. The "thin" adapter is the same as the stock one. If you've ever seen one, it's no smaller, it's just a different form factor. If you're universal is > 95 watter, then you're good to go.

Can you use a less than < 95 watter? Sure. 90 watts is the max power consumption. When your Z is running all out with nVidia graphics and all cores going 100% with the DVD spinning and the LCD on full brightness and your battery charging from 10%. How often do you do that? Most of the time, you can get by using a much smaller adapter. The problem is that if you do and the Z needs full power, your wittle adapter will run super hot and eventually bake itself to death.

Actually, i am more concerned about the voltage. Do you know which voltage range the z uses?

19V will be fine, the DC/DC converters in the Z will probably do the job even if you put on 17V (not that I would honestly recommend you to do that).

So, don't worry about those 0.5V.
