This has been a persisting problem for awhile - while using my Sony Z12, the pointer begins to act very funny at times. Usually it will get stuck on a parallel path (only able to move up or down), sometimes it fidgets in place when I'm not touching the track pad, and many times I just lose complete control of it.
Once the problem occurs, I can't do anything to fix it besides putting the laptop to sleep or shutting down. When I turn it back on, the problem is temporarily fixed but it starts up again after some use. It happens very randomly and unpredictably. I just did a complete system recover, and the problem still persists.
Any ideas?

I just upgraded from a Z12 to a Z13. The Z12 I had had problems with the trackpad as well. I have not seen this activity with the Z13.
Just posting this if somone wanted info to do a poll. -
bump anyone else?

I had some problem with trackpad on Z12 when I bought it in July, although not exactly what you described. An update of the drivers fixed that and no such problems since.

I've updated my Z12 drivers several times, now on the latest Scrybe, and nothing fixes the erratic/unpredictable touchpad funniness. I'm scheduled now to have the entire palmrest/tp replaced by a Sony tech. Others have suggested that poor grounding on some models (including older and newer Zs) makes the TP respond to touch on the palmrest or laptop body. For me, it also seems to vary depending on the moistness/dryness of my hands and fingers. Definitely the worst touchpad I've had on a laptop, out of the box.
