I know others have encountered problems with their bluetooth mice disconnecting, etc. However, my problem is the following: I have tried to connect various devices (phone, keyboard, mouse) to the Sony Z but the Z just doesn't recognize any of them. If I use the bluetooth USB receiver that came with the keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Entertainment Desktop 7000), they pair up just fine and everything works. However, the built-in bluetooth doesn't find either of them. On my phone, I can find the Sony Z but when I go to pair it, I get a failed error message on my phone saying "unable to pair". The laptop doesn't even list the phone as a device in range. All the bluetooth drivers are listed as working properly so I'm at a loss as to what the problem can be. If any of you have any suggestions/input, please send it my way! Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, I just got a Z12 myself today (my first Vaio, ever), and I'll try out a bluetooth mouse in a couple hours and report back with what happens. I haven't even turned on the bluetooth yet.

Thanks madmook. I've had my Z12 for a few weeks now and very happy so far. A few minor things like this bluetooth problem here and there but overall just an amazing machine. Looking forward to some input.

Yeah, turned on bluetooth, found and connected to my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 no problem, and I'm using it now.

Besides the standard crappy bluetooth responsiveness (normally, I use a Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX or a wired mouse), it works like it's supposed to.

Edit: Oh, and just using whatever driver was factory pre-installed.

I have a MS BT Notebook 5000 as well and have had no issues so far, which surprised me. The BT manager even finds a BT device in my neighbour's house. I did have to hold down the connect button on the mouse for a second or two AFTER starting the search for new devices in Windows' BT manager but other than that, it paired right up.

    Hi fellas.

I've been having heaps of bluetooth issues too, but I notice that it's only when I'm running on batteries. When I'm plugged in, it works fine.

I believe there's some setting in power options which would solve it. At the moment, I switch off my bluetooth when I'm on batteries so I wouldn't suffer that issue.

Maybe I just have something wrong with my built in bluetooth. Like I said, my phone can find my Z but when I put in a "0000" passcode it doesn't pair. My Z on the other hand, can't find any device. I think I may swing by Sony Style and see if they can troubleshoot anything. Is there anything in the BIOS that may need to be changed? Thanks again.

PS. Are there any changes I can make in the "Services" folder with either the Bluetooth Support Service or Bluetooth Service? Can any of you open your "Bluetooth Support Service" folder and click on the Log On tab? Which setting is click, the "Local System Account" or "This Account"? My current setting is Local System Account. Thanks

hhmmmm... weird... My Z had the "Local System Account" checked and the "Startup Type" was on Automatic. When I try to switch to "This account", the password and confirm password come up automatically. I type in the "Local Service" but then when I hit apply, I get the "Please Enter a Valid Password". Does anyone know what the actual password should be?? Appreciate the help!

Sorry, I never set a Windows password because I'm the only user, so I don't know why that password field is filled in. Are you using that factory-installed SmartWi Connection program that sits in the tray to enable/disable bluetooth?

I never set a password either. And yes, I'm using the SmartWi connection as it came from the factory. No idea what could be going on but hopefully the Sony Style store has some idea (though I HIGHLY doubt it since most of the workers there are sooo clueless about their own products!). Thanks for the help though.
