It this a good deal for the Sony Vaio Z:

    i7 620M
    8 GB RAM
    256 Hard Drive
    Full HD
    Metal Shield
2 Year Warranty With Accidental coverage for $2249.

What where some of the deals some of you guys got. Also would you recommend the laptop say compared to the Macbook Pro, or Lenovo W series or even to a lesser extent the T Series

Honestly it depends on what you want your laptop for.

Im guessing the 256 GB hard drive you listed is probably a SSD? right?

If you went with a 7200 rpm drive the price would drop by quite a bit.
But you dont really say what you are going to use your laptop for so im not sure.

As far as comparing them with a Macbook or a Lenovo I cant really give you a great opinion on it.

Although I purchased my first Macbook Pro about 2 weeks ago and I couldnt stand the OS and I returned it very quick and purchased a Vaio.
I will say this as far as Macs go It really depends on if you like the Operating system.. Also I hear the I7 Isnt a true quad core on there systems.. Im not sure if this is true or not but it is what I heard.

Anyway If you could give more details I could help you out more.

My vaio I got was about 1149 and It was a i7 720 4gb ram and 500gb 7200 rpm drive with 1080 Res.

Wow didn't know this but the computer you are looking at is actually a dual core.. I dont know if that matters or anything but I didn't even know the 620s where actually dual cores.

definitely go for it, its a great deal.

I am that happy I got a similar deal here in germany:

    Z11
    i7 620
    256 quad ssd
    8GB
    FHD
    WWAN
    TPM+Fingerprint
    DVD/RW
    N/C Headphones
    Prem Carbon
    Win 7 Pro

believe it or not for 2059€.

I combined 10% educational bonus with 5% discount. by calling sony style several times, it took me about a month to negotiate that deal after all (had three orders cancelled by sony before).

There was another nice offer some weeks ago in the shop
    Z11
    i5-540
    4GB
    256 SSD
    1600x900
    WWAN
    w/o TPM
    DVD/RW
    ext. Battery
    Black

    for 1749€. Period.

Compared to the lenovos you have to note that they don't even offer a SSD for nearly the same price of your offer. if you spec out your mbp (15" at least, 13" does not have the core-i-series yet) to the Z (with 256g SSD and 8gigs of RAM), you'll get about 3300$ without a FHD screen.

Yes, that's not a bad deal, but where are you ordering from? Z11 and Z12 buyers in the U.S. can usually expect a 15% discount if they purchase a warranty and two accessories. And I agree with other posters--Z12 will be much better than your 13 inch Mac.

Are you sure you're talking about a Vaio Z? They don't have quad core processors. It's not possible. The Z uses a hybrid graphics system that can only be utilized with dual core processors like the 540m or 620m. The 720Qm doesn't support hybrid graphics.

educational bonus? how come? i'm in germany as well and during my order, when i asked the reps about educational discount they told me there _is_ no such thing...damn these sneaky reps!
would you mind elaborating a bit on how you managed it?

my current order is a z12 with:
    i7 620m
    8gig ram
    128gb sdd
    1600x900 resolution
    dvd drive
    wwan
    backlit keyboard
    premium carbon

    for €2050...

Sorry for the late reply. I am buying it from the US. Located in Maryland. I had called them day before yesterday and I told them I had ordered the laptop before, but it got cancelled, and they decided to give me a 30% discount. On top on my 10% discount.

Thanks for you guys for your advise, really helpful in trying to make a decision.

Did you call local sonystyle store or online store? So you are getting total of 40% discount. This is awesome deal. I'm also looking to buy laptop in next day or so and was looking at both Z12 and lenovo T410s.

I like sony personally but the price tag is too heavy :(

It's actually 37% combined, but wow that's a great deal OP! My Z12 should have been $1196.37 with the same discount! Which store is it?

I bought it over the phone no store. If someone in Maryland wants it for the same price more then happy to sell it to them.

i got a 5% discount due to all the problems i had with them and i combined it with the 10% offer of allmaxx.de.

you shoult at least get the 10% of allmaxx cashback, thats an additional 200€ saving. i would order it on monday because that is the last day you can get the free i7 upgrade.

    good luck!

I dont want to sell it but if someone else wants it more than I do I am willing to part with it. I realize some of you are real fans of this product and deserve a chance to get it at a reasonable price.

    to the OP,

You're a f'in troll you bag. Why would you have been willing to pay $2k+ CTO model, get 37% off, only to decide you don't want it and then offer it at that price?

You're an idiot and a retard.
