Hey guys. So its time to upgrade my 4 year old laptop (Sony Vaio Z790) It was one of the best machines i have ever owned, never once let me down. I ordered the S Premium because of Specs and Price. However, after seeing that the screen was among the worst quality output ever, i returned it and decided to get another Z. I didnt want to spend too much and found a great deal on a Mint Condition Z2 for under $1000. I should get it by Monday, but had a question

When laptop is connected to outlet, does the extended battery charge? or would I have to disconnect it and charge it separately? Also the extended battery didn’t come with a charger, just an adapter with a plug to input a charger, does the laptop charger connect to that?

Also on the S series I was able to use it with my PS3, i know the new 2012 Z has this capability to do this, does the 2011 Z have this software, if not can it be downloaded from Sony?

The battery slice will charge when attached to the laptop and the laptop adapter connects to the battery slice when not attached. If you have the PMD, you can use it's power for the laptop and the laptop's adapter to charge the battery slice. Otherwise it's one or the other.

Of course, the software to connect it to the PS3 is installed by default (you can even see it on the wireless network without doing anything).

Also last question, on the S series there was an option under Vaio Care or Vaio Settings, to which you can have the back-light keys to be either On all the time or on 20 seconds depending if it was charging or not. Now i know you have to go into the registry to do that on the 2011 Z, is there an update to which there is controllability for the back light keys on the Z?
