I just received my new Sony Z2 and everything is great except the back-lit keyboard will not illuminate despite being enabled in the Vaio Control Center. After walking into a fully dark room there is no keyboard illumination. Does anyone have any ideas that might be causing this. Is there any chance that I am missing some kind of driver due to my Z coming with the fresh start option?
Thanks,
Ryan

No.... you most likely have a defective machine or no backlit keyboard (don't know if this is even an option for Z2).
The keyboard illumination is controlled by the same sensor that controls your brightness. If your brightness dims when the environment light condition changes, than you have a defect somewhere (or as I said - a non backlit keyboard installed.) -
The keyboard only lights up when you type (and shortly thereafter). The sensor is about 3/8" directly to the right of the vaio key. Cover it with your finger and type, does the keyboard light up?

In the UK, backlit keyboard is an option if you order a custom configuration. It's only £15 but if you don't tick the box that would be a really annoying mistake to make!

Whether the keyboard is back-lit can easily be recognized by the keys...
Well at least if you have ever seen a back-lit keyboard before. The keys are manufactured in a way that can not be mistaken with non-back-lit keys. -
It is supposed to have back-lit keys, it's on the order info. I called Sony, there supposed to be sending a technician out.
Thanks
